I've always loved fire escapes, from the first step I took in New York City. As a kid growing up in  France, while watching American movies, they've always meant so much to me. I love the different styles, colors, structures, and architecture of the buildings behind them. Each one is different. I've walked at least 300 miles to photograph and find the right ones, from the Financial District to Soho to Chelsea to Midtown and Uptown and the five boroughs.
